A: It depends on that counselor’s caseload , if your child is self-motivated and responsible, and already knows a lot about colleges, and the application process. An independent counselor will maximize your child’s chances of getting into his choice school.

Q: When should I hire an independent college counselor?

A: An initial consult in freshman year is ideal just to discuss strategy over the next four years. As Junior year is a critical year in the eyes of the college admissions officer, routine consulting is best advised to start at this time at the latest. By starting earlier, however, I can maximize the student’s academic curriculum, intellectual interests, extracurricular activities, and summer plans.

Q: Do you call colleges to help my child “get in”?

A: It is much more effective to work behind the scenes and to help each student to present him/herself. An application is much stronger if standing on one's own merits.

Q: We do not live in town. Can you still work with my son or daughter?

A: Yes, I ama ble to consult remotely by telephone, email, webcam/skype is possible.

If our comprehensive package is still prohibitively expensive, specific options are available such as hourly consulting for interview coaching, pre-application planning, or academic tutoring in any area, standardized test preparation, or any of the other services offerred.
